We are proud to announce our collaboration with Elsevier, a global leader in advanced information and decision support for science and healthcare and one of our clients Recordati. Together, we have developed a tailored framework that integrates Embase datasets with MedPro, an AI-powered Medical Information workflow securely and compliantly.
“This is a breakthrough moment for the industry,” says Dr. Miena Amiri, CEO of AVAYL. “By aligning technical safeguards, licensing models and legal frameworks from the start, we’re proving that AI can be implemented in a way that meets the needs of users while protecting the rights of content owners. It’s not about compromise - it’s about designing AI systems that create lasting value for all stakeholders.”
The Medical Information Challenge
Medical Information teams carry responsibility: to provide evidence-based, scientifically accurate responses when healthcare professionals seek information to support safe patient care. As the volume of medical evidence continues to grow, so does the urgency for timely and precise information delivery. Artificial intelligence holds significant promise in meeting this demand, but leveraging AI effectively introduces complex challenges, particularly around copyright compliance and the responsible use of trusted, licensed scientific content.
Embase in the AI-powered Medical Information Workflow
That's why we are incredibly proud to be the technology partner in a pioneering collaboration. This initiative, detailed in an article on the Elsevier Connect blog showcases an innovative framework. It allows Recordati’s Medical Information team to pair the trusted, scientific content of Elsevier’s biomedical database Embase with AVAYL’s MedPro platform compliantly, securely, and effectively.
MedPro is the AI environment for this framework, purpose-built for Medical Information workflows. The set-up respects intellectual property rights and provides the traceability that content owners require, giving MI teams the confidence to innovate.
“Our goal is to partner with our customers so that they can innovate with confidence. Pairing MedPro’s workflow with Elsevier’s trusted content means MI teams spend less time searching and more time creating comprehensive, evidence-based responses,” says Mirit Eldor, Managing Director, Elsevier, Life Science Solutions
Impact for Medical Information Teams
This collaboration addresses those challenges directly, unlocking meaningful benefits for MI teams:
Faster triage and review: searches across the internal and external data bases such as Embase dataset can be screened with AI to surface the most relevant evidence quickly, reducing manual effort.
Accelerated content processing: AI-enabled access to full-text literature is supported by rights granted through Elsevier, improving both speed and depth of scientific response.
Audit-ready by default: Medical responses can be created through synthesizing content extractions with transparent and audit ready source trails
A blueprint collaboration for responsible innovation
As AI continues to reshape research and clinical workflows, partnerships like this offer a blueprint for sustainable, scalable and legally sound progress, and show that AI innovation doesn’t have to come at the expense of compliance.
